WHY? Serpentine Co-Founders & Guides- comprised of Herpetologists, an Anthropologist, Videographers, Expedition Leaders & Wildlife Photographers- discovered a simple yet overwhelmingly challenging truth throughout our years abroad.

As a species, we don’t protect something unless we love it; we don’t love something until we understand it, and we don’t understand it until we experience it.

The undoubtedly intrinsic value that all life on Earth deserves is today obscured by a wall of modernization, speed, and greed. We can’t expect others to sympathize with the need to protect our natural world until they too have seen what we’ve seen, felt what we’ve felt, and followed the innate, ever-present pull in all of us that draws one back to the wild.

We are not separate from the natural world, we’re simply the only ones here which are burdened by the capacity to consciously observe it. That fact alone provides humanity with an undeniably great responsibility.

We created Serpentine Expeditions not only to provide ethical, world-class Herping (searching for reptiles & amphibians) locale access at an affordable rate even for the in-debt college graduate working a minimum wage forestry job, while also appealing to those lacking a budget & with bags packed- but above all we came with the intention of achieving something that’s near impossible to find in a tour company; crystalizing the raw, heart-filling, confidence-building, purpose-driving effect that truly unhindered travel has on the soul, into our very DNA.

Our team has worked for years to amplify partner relations and create an international network of logistics professionals with a myriad of information to support the team’s data-driven decisions. We blend experience, intel, luck, and hard work for desirable outcomes- with an open mind for when the unplanned knocks on our door.

Facilitating and nurturing a love for the natural world is how we save it.
